The Second Stomach
With the development of science and technology and the rapid progress of society, the challenge in design domain might become "pluriversal AI system in design". How will AI change our food rituals and cultures? In the Design Future course at Polimi, we create a product names "The second stomach", and we hope to use it to provoke thought about AI intervention in food.
——"In a world dominated by convenience and virtual experiences, "The Second Stomach" emerges as a beacon of change. Designed to bridge the gap between humans and their natural food sources, this artificial external tube digestive system offers a pathway to reconnection with real food and meaningful interactions. Imagine a future dinner table where each seat is accompanied by a tube, offering a direct link between individuals and their meals. With "The Second Stomach," users can effortlessly consume and digest natural foods, gradually reacquainting themselves with the textures, flavors, and nourishment of unprocessed ingredients."
